Dear Friends,

My name is Jay Kirkpatrick.  My mom, Ann Kirkpatrick, is a young at heart 67-year-old whose kidneys are failing.  We’re hoping to find a living kidney donor for her as soon as possible.

Do you have the desire to be a donor?

Some people have an innate desire to help others in this profound way — to literally share the gift of life and good health by donating a kidney. I invite you to connect with uchealth.org/livingdonor. The process is quick and confidential, and asking questions doesn’t commit you to anything. Ann is registered with them, and her local hospital (UCHealth) is an NKR member center.

Do you have the desire to help Ann in other ways?

Please share my mom’s story. Every share brings us closer to reaching the person who will feel called to step forward.  Go to the page “Share Ann’s Story” to cut and paste messages into your social media.  Seriously: You could be the conduit that saves my mom’s life by doing this!

Thank you for caring,

Jay

About Ann

Living in Colorado for over 40 years, Mom/Ann gives and receives joy through playing guitar and singing, volunteering, hosting friend and family gatherings and going to music events.   Ann is Mom to me and my sister, and she is Mimi to four young grandchildren.

Why does Ann need a kidney?

Ann inherited polycystic kidney disease (PKD) from her mom, my Grandmajeanne.   Through the years cysts grow in the kidneys; they increase in size and/or number, lessening the ability for the kidneys to function.  There is no medicine to treat it, and there is no cure.  Dialysis treatments can prolong life but it comes with its own set of problems, like infections/illness, less energy, and a shortened (and lower quality) life span.

Kidney Donations Change Lives

My Grandmajeanne received a kidney donation when she was 72, so I got to grow up knowing her, being loved by her, sharing her love of camping and canoeing and storytelling; she enriched our lives in so many ways.  A kidney donation/transplant made that possible.  That’s what I want for my mom and our family.
