About Ann
Living in Colorado for over 40 years, Mom/Ann gives and receives joy through playing guitar and singing, volunteering, hosting friend and family gatherings and going to music events. Ann is Mom to me and my sister, and she is Mimi to four young grandchildren.
Why does Ann need a kidney?
Ann inherited polycystic kidney disease (PKD) from her mom, my Grandmajeanne. Through the years cysts grow in the kidneys; they increase in size and/or number, lessening the ability for the kidneys to function. There is no medicine to treat it, and there is no cure. Dialysis treatments can prolong life but it comes with its own set of problems, like infections/illness, less energy, and a shortened (and lower quality) life span.
Kidney Donations Change Lives
My Grandmajeanne received a kidney donation when she was 72, so I got to grow up knowing her, being loved by her, sharing her love of camping and canoeing and storytelling; she enriched our lives in so many ways. A kidney donation/transplant made that possible. That’s what I want for my mom and our family.
